This site is the gateway to finding a Public House in the UK, strengths are currently in
London,
Essex, and
Suffolk and now also
Kent,
Hertfordshire,
Cambridge,
Dorset. You will find large tracts of Middlesex and Surrey at the London site, where there are thousands of individual Public Houses, Beer Houses, Hotels and Taverns, with and a plethora of early Trade Directory listings.
Newly added are
Oxfordshire,
Middlesex,
Hampshire ,
Sussex and
Berkshire.
These few Pubs sites introduce you to the history of the Publican and Licensed Victualler, through census and Trade Directory listings over the past two hundred years. Many Publicans are often only listed in the Trade Directories as Beer Retailers, so by combining this data with that from census records, imagery and local knowledge of a particular establishment, it will often add new dimension and scope to an area.
Many of the Pubs sites also use pictures and postcard images of the Public House, either old or new. More pictures are always welcome.
Lastly, I am always looking for new information to add to the sites from people who have historical links with the Licensed Publican Trade.
